My new bass neck finally arrived. I ordered a new neck from Warmoth in December and have been waiting for its arrival. Its a fretted replacement to the current fretless neck on the bass. Details below.
Bass neck details...
Deluxe 5 inline bass neck
Roasted maple neck
Roasted maple fret-board
1-3/4" nut width
6230 fret wire
GB7 tuners
Black binding with white side dots
22 frets
I used Warmoth's custom made option as I wanted a very specific build. I needed to match what is already on the bass with respect to tuners so that meant a 5 inline configuration. I also wanted an easier time seeing the side dots in the dark so I added black binding and white side dots.

The original bass I had built was a Fender jazz-style copy using all Warmoth parts. The neck was a wenge neck and fretless Pau Ferro fret-board with white side dots.
The reason I choose roasted maple for both the neck wood and fret-board wood is its supposed stronger and stiffer characteristics. It also allows the wood to be played raw - no finish needed - which I am used to doing with my Warwick Thumb.
I also read about the smell - and its true. The neck smells like brown sugar or a diluted syrup. So, just what I, as one trying to avoid sugar and carbs, need, a bass that reminds me of sugar.
I'll post picks and maybe an audio file or two after the bass is built.
