From my last post on DrumBot, I promised recordings. However, while playing along with a constructed drum track is easy using the USB connected Alesis iMultiMix8-US, recording both tracks (via Audacity) on a laptop has proven, err, troublesome.
The second attempt used the ipod (5.5 generation) and the Alesis iMultiMix8-US - but the recording on the ipod doesn't seem to function. Nor does the mp3 recording transferred to the laptop. Its an old ipod and its been with me to China many times - I think, unfortunately, its looking for a final resting place.
For the third attempt, I pulled out my ipad and launched GarageBand. Using the USB connector that came with the ipad, I connected the Alesis to the ipad. I created some drum tracks using the "Smart Drums" (image below), recorded the drum track, then played and recorded my bass to it.

Smart Drums - a matrix of volume and pattern complexity. Add a selection of drum kits and you have a very intuitive interface. A simply placement change changes either or both the volume and drum pattern.
The resulting recordings sound very good. At least played back on the ipad. I will move them to the laptop and then upload them here.
