My Warwick Thumb is needing a new set of strings and some TLC. Which of course means I turn to Tom and his ambulance mobile guitar repair shop.
I've know Tom Rieser a long time. I want to say I started using Tom for my bass tech work back in the late 80's - but I am low on my morning tea consumption so I might have the decade wrong. The point is...Tom has done the bass tech work for all my basses for a long time.
Tom started TR Guitars in 1984 in a little shop in the Tustin Business Center. In 2011, Tom moved his shop from Tustin to Silverado Canyon. In his new shop, he custom builds his own line of guitars and various stringed instruments.
But because Tom has a large clientele relying on his repair work (me included), he needed to find a way to "stay local".
Enter the ambulance.

Tom converted a type 3 box ambulance into a fully functioning guitar repair shop.
How cool is that?
Tom makes frequent trips around Orange County. He can come to any location - home or business - and do the work while you wait. For larger jobs, he offers a pick up and delivery service.
Tom has met me at both my home and at my day time gig - and performed both the "while you wait" and "pick up and delivery service" repairs.
Tom does all the work himself and is very meticulous.
Tom uses his new web site, facebook, email, and phone calls for bookings.
If you're in and around Orange County, I highly recommend Tom for any guitar or bass tech work. The tour of the ambulance is pretty cool too.
