In a prior post, I talked about a set of IEM (in ear monitors) I had on order with Alien Ears. They were a gift from Christmas. |
The set arrived but there was a problem with the left ear piece. It sounded like the low end driver wasn't hooked up and its total volume was low. I played around with the cables to make sure it wasn't my ears having the issue. I even had another pair of ears give a listen. No getting around it - the left monitor was bad.
So I sent them back. After a little "discussion" back and forth via email, Alien Ears corrected the issue and sent them back to me. While I am happy I received the functioning set back, their turn-around-time was horrible and their communication and customer service was even worse.
Still, I am not a hater, so I am grateful they stood behind their product and warranty.
This week I will put their ears to use with a full band rehearsal. With content from YouTube, the ears sound great - and I can run them at a much lower volume than other ear buds. I am really hoping they work like that in a live band setting. My tinnitus is bad enough, I don't want to make it worse.

The backyard project, particularly, the raised garden beds, is coming along.
I'm using masonry glue to hold the bricks together. The bricks are getting pulled up from another part of the backyard that I am converting to grass.
My original plan called for four raised beds but I'm burning through the bricks and I have a budget to stick to - so I've pared it down to two.
I was also planning to add a few upside-down tomato containers across the back wall. But after inspecting the wall up close, I don't think it would withstand the weight. It looks like I will be using free standing stands or some version of a normal large barrel or container.

Also, I noticed moving the bricks around the backyard has helped my back when playing for four or more hours. I don't have a "bad" back but anyone standing for four hours with a 10ish pound stick of wood around their neck is bound to have some soreness. The few rehearsals I've had since I've started the backyard project have been with less back strain. A side benefit I was not expecting.
