Short video from the Saint Patrick's Day gig at The Olde Ship. I only caught the last verse and chorus...and listening back I wish I caught the entire song. Its one minute of five part harmony - and it puts a smile on my face every time I hear it. Dang these dudes and chics can sing.
CheapDate performing Neil Young's After the Gold Rush. Video taken with an iPhone from my vantage point at the back of the stage.
CheapDate is Tim, Pete, Ellen, Anne, and Mary - all singing. Not pictured nor playing are Dom, Jeff, and bonehead.

The The 2nd Annual Centanni-Cottle Memorial 5K Run/Walk in Yorba Linda went off smoothly and the gig was both enjoyable and emotional.
My rig for the gig is pictured left. After reading a few threads on TalkBass on a "vertical 4x10" speaker arrangement, I decided to try my version of it. I don't have two 2x10 cabs so my one 2x10 and 1-12 would have to do. The result was an easier to hear rig, and, standing between two and five feet in front of the rig, the sweet spot of tone and volume was fantastic. The mix of drums and bass in my ear-plugged ears was really, really nice. I remember reading a few other threads on the "no-no's" of mixing different speaker sizes but I use what I got. The 2x10 is 67 pounds so I'm not a fan of lugging two of them around. I might try two 1-12 though. I like the sound of that cabinet. There were other photos (non bass rig) taken of the gig which will be posted as soon as I get coped on them. |
